Hailing from North Andover, Massachusetts, Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Jimmy Carabello enlisted in the United States Army in November 1985. Following 32 years of dedicated service, he retired to York, Maine in June 2017. Throughout his career, CSM Carabello served in a variety of elite units, including the 75th Ranger Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, the 10th Mountain Division, and the Maneuver Center of Excellence in Fort Moore, Georgia. CSM Carabello’s commitment to duty led him on two combat deployments to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and an additional four combat deployments to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. His extraordinary service and dedication to our nation has been recognized with numerous awards and decorations. These accolades include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (oak leaf cluster), Bronze Star Medal (four oak leaf clusters) and the Purple Heart Medal. Additionally, he wore the Ranger Tab, Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantryman, Master Parachutist Badges, and the British, Canadian, El Salvadoran, Peruvian and Jordanian Parachutist Badges. CSM Carabello's commitment to service did not end with his retirement from active duty. He continues to support veterans through his involvement with the Committee for Veterans Affairs for the Town of York, Maine. He further exemplifies the spirit of leadership and mentorship as an Association of the United States Army Leadership Fellow. His devotion to the legacy of the United States Army Rangers is demonstrated through his role as the New England Region Commander for the United States Army Ranger Association, and he remains an ardent mentor for the Three Rangers Foundation, providing invaluable support to the Rangers of the 75th Ranger Regiment.
