The Luke Leaders 1248 Scholarship is available to all children of US Army Rangers, past or present, pursuing a post-secondary education. This education could be at a college or trade school.
The amount of $2,000* will be presented annually, for a period of 4 years, to the recipient’s selected institution of higher learning. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who personifies the concept of servant leadership.
Scholarships will become available commensurate with fundraising success. The current, active scholarship is offered to children of current or former US Army Rangers.
The phrase “Servant Leadership” was popularized by Robert K. Greenleaf in his 1970 work, The Servant as a Leader. Servant leadership emphasizes collaboration, trust, empathy, and the ethical use of power.
The individual is servant first, making a conscious to better serve others, not to increase their own power; someone who is willing to put personal glory second to the success of the team. The objective of servant leadership is to enhance the growth of all individuals in an organization.
The recipient of the Luke Leaders Scholarship should display the characteristics that are inherent in a servant leader, behaviors such as stewardship, listening, empathy, external foci, and team building.
